Listenly FAQs

Do I need to pay for a full book/document?
No, you are paying only for the audio that you are listening to. We are splitting your book/document into small 4-minute chunks and converting them seamlessly while you're listening to them. For users who need to convert a large amount of text to audio immediately, we will soon add a feature to convert the entire document or chapter.
Which languages are supported?
Afrikaans, Arabic, Armenian, Azerbaijani, Belarusian, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Catalan, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, Galician, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Icelandic, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Kannada, Kazakh, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Macedonian, Malay, Marathi, Maori, Nepali, Norwegian, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish, Tagalog, Tamil, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, Vietnamese, and Welsh. The language of your book/document will be detected automatically during the upload. Works best with English and other Latin languages (French, German, etc.)
Does it work on mobile?
Yes, you can open the app in your mobile browser and add it to your home screen to use it as a separate app. We are planning to publish it as a native app in the app stores in the future.
Can I listen to emails?
Yes, every Listenly user can forward emails to their personal Listenly inbox, where they are parsed and added to their library.
Isn't it illegal?
No, it's not. Your uploaded books and documents are accessible to you only. Think of it as Google Drive or Dropbox, where you can store books that you bought or downloaded. Google and Dropbox will not ban you for doing so. For the Public Library, we select public domain content only. If you do not want your content to be published in our public library, just tell us, and we will remove it.
Will there be more voices?
Yes, we are planning to add at least 5 more voices, including 2 female ones, in the nearest future. Sign In to the app to get notified. AI is developing rapidly, and new models are appearing every couple of months. We keep track of it and will connect more models if there is something with the same quality or better than the current ones. We aim to provide the best listening experience, so we are very selective in that regard.
