This technology, licensed by MyHeritage from D-ID, uses deep learning to create realistic video sequences from historical photos. Deep Nostalgia™ utilizes pre-prepared drivers by MyHeritage, with each driver containing a fixed sequence of movements and gestures. By precisely applying these drivers to a face in a static photo, Deep Nostalgia™ generates a short video that can show ancestors smiling, blinking, and turning their heads, providing a unique way to connect with the past through visual storytelling.

Who created Deep Nostalgia?

Deep Nostalgia was created by MyHeritage, a company specializing in genealogy and DNA testing services. How to use Deep Nostalgia?

To use Deep Nostalgia on MyHeritage, follow these steps:

1. Visit the MyHeritage website and go to the "My Photos" section.

3. If your family photos are in physical albums, use the MyHeritage mobile app to scan and import them for animation.
4. Download the MyHeritage app from the App Store or Google Play for this purpose.
5. You need a MyHeritage account to animate your photos, which you can easily create for free on the Deep Nostalgia page.
6. Users with a Complete subscription can animate an unlimited number of photos, while others can create several animations for free before needing a subscription.
7. If you animate photos as a non-subscriber, there will be a MyHeritage logo watermark in the video, which is removed for Complete subscribers.
8. Deep Nostalgia technology uses pre-prepared drivers to animate faces through high-quality video sequences, bringing historical photos to life realistically.
9. Your privacy is protected, as MyHeritage does not share the animated photos with third parties.
