What is Dalmatian?
"Dalmatian" refers to an AI tool designed to streamline the operations of data teams by swiftly addressing ad-hoc queries, allowing more focus on strategic analyses. It features the Data Analyst Language Model (DaLM) that responds directly to user queries to provide fast and accurate results. DaLMatian integrates with systems such as Slack or Teams and learns from past queries by understanding the business logic behind each request. The tool operates fully on-premises, preserving data sovereignty by ensuring no data exits the user's internal environment. Additionally, it secures Personally Identifiable Information (PII) by not sharing actual data and masking PII in query codes.
Who created Dalmatian?
Dalmatian was founded by three friends who met at Princeton during their undergraduate studies. The team members had diverse experiences including analytics at Riskified, AI at Google Research, engineering at Google & Duolingo, and quant trading at Virtu. The technical team had led publications at top ML conferences like NeurIPS, and the CEO had a background as a data analyst. Dalmatian was launched on January 13, 2024.
